In this month’s American History seminar, retired professor John Viteritti will discuss David Halberstam’s The Best and the Brightest, examining the decisions that led the U.S. into the Vietnam War. He will also discuss the roles of Daniel Ellsberg and Neil Sheehan in the release of the Pentagon Papers, and reflect on a personal conversation he had with Sheehan about his Pulitzer Prize-winning book, A Bright Shining Lie.

 

Open to the public and free of cost. Registration encouraged, but not required. Walk-ins welcome.
